About: The Corner Apartment

Share a few details and the studio can discuss the next step.

The brief

The Corner Apartment imagines a compact home with several small rooms rather than a single open interior. The occupants want to cook, work occasionally and rest without feeling that every activity is visible from every other one. The brief values a connected home, but it does not assume that connection requires removing its internal boundaries.

A room-by-room inventory establishes which possessions need to be close at hand and which can be stored less prominently. It also identifies a recurring inconvenience: the same folding surface is moved between a work corner and the dining position. The concept asks whether those two uses can be supported without adding another large piece of furniture.

The challenge

The apartment’s changes of direction can make each room feel unrelated, while a single continuous finish could erase their useful differences. The study needs a thread between rooms that leaves room for a quieter bedroom, a more robust cooking area and a temporary working position.

The approach

Repeated storage proportions and a consistent timber tone establish the connecting thread. Each opening frames a different use rather than promising a view through the whole apartment. A compact work surface sits near the shared room, with a deliberate place for its loose equipment when the working day ends.

Two furniture scenarios compare an ordinary evening with a small gathering. The dining position expands only into space that is genuinely free in that scenario. Doors and storage remain usable. A later measured plan would need to confirm the actual dimensions and any restrictions before the concept could become a detailed proposal.

Materials and everyday care

The material direction combines a warm timber reference, a quieter painted plane and a mineral-colored surface near the kitchen. Samples would be checked together and in their intended rooms. Technical suitability, moisture exposure, product care and installation remain specific selection decisions, not qualities established by matching a photograph.

Scope of the study

The fictional deliverables are a linked room-use brief, storage studies, two furniture arrangements and an outline material palette. The scope excludes structural changes, detailed building services and purchasing. It offers a way to discuss how small rooms can feel related while allowing each to serve a different part of daily life.
