ARDEN ATELIER
A useful conversation before the larger commitment.
The shape of the work.
Preparation / conversation / summary / next steps
A focused question is a useful beginning
A consultation suits a question that can be discussed meaningfully before a larger design appointment is defined. It might concern the arrangement of one room, the relationship between adjoining spaces or how to prepare a clearer renovation brief. The fictional service starts by identifying that question and the available information, so the conversation has a manageable focus.
Preparation and conversation
Before a meeting is confirmed, the scope should state its duration, format, fee basis and the material to provide. A few photographs, rough dimensions and a note on daily use can make the discussion more specific. They do not replace an accurate survey, an inspection or any assessment that the particular question requires.
During the conversation, priorities and constraints are considered together. Where information is missing, the useful outcome may be a next question rather than a design answer. A consultation should not turn an unverified assumption about an existing building into a confident instruction.
A concise record
An agreed summary can record the main priorities, options discussed and information needed before further work. It should distinguish an observation, a suggestion and an item requiring specialist advice. Any sketches are discussion aids unless a later written appointment defines a more developed drawing package.
What it does not replace
This limited service does not include approvals, a structural assessment, a full design scheme or construction instructions. The real provider must confirm what is appropriate for the question before accepting a booking or payment. The fictional description offers a clear route into a conversation, with a separate inquiry path available when a consultation is not the right starting point.
